During the last years Embotelladora Andina S.A. has developed a global process to organize the Company’s Sustainability Strategy.

Several initiatives proposed during the diagnosis stage of this strategy were implemented, and Sustainability Committees previously formed in each of the company’s operations began working, meeting periodically in order to analyze subjects of common interest and review the levels of advancement of the action plans in each one of the areas of the Company.

Regarding sustainability challenges our Company has given priority to its People.  Andina is currently professionally developing executive team as well as its workers and will continue to do so. We are especially interested in advancing towards promoting life standards and work environment throughout the more than six thousand workers who are part of our company.

Secondly, we are concerned about the Environment. Andina has always stood out for its high environmental standards, but the commitment is not only towards safeguarding the impact our operations, but also to generate, as we are already doing, innovative initiatives for the care of water, the main component in the elaboration of our products and also a limited and valuable resource to society; electric power, mainly due to the current restrictive scenario; residues and emissions we generate.

Thirdly, there is a challenge with the Neighboring Communities. Our Company wants to continue contributing to the education and entrepreneurship, to the care of the environment, the social inclusion of most of the underprivileged groups, and the promotion of sports and wellness which is in the marrow of the spirit of Andina and Coca-Cola.

Additionally, we will continue working and contributing to the development of our Clients, contractors and business partners.

Our Company has the responsibility to handle all its operations with world-wide class practices in terms of sustainability. In order to do so, we operate with the highest standards of quality, environmental management, health, labor security and nourishing security.

The company has implemented the respective management systems: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and HACCP. Additionally, we must fulfill Coca-Cola standards, one most demanding at world-wide level.

Concrete examples of the work that is being done in terms of sustainability are: rain-water recovery systems in our Brazilian operation; the recycling of solid residues at the Ecological Island in our Argentine operation; and in Chile through our Client Development Center, during 2008 we have trained nearly three thousands micro and small clients. In the three countries we have been part of the Wellness Movement prompted by Coca-Cola, fomenting and educating our workers and their families, children, youngsters and adults in creating habits of a healthy lifestyle.

During 2008 we published Embotelladora Andina’s First Social Responsibility Report, describing the performance and impact, during these three last years, that our Company has had in the social, environmental, and economic scopes; as well as the contribution initiatives towards societies in which we are inserted in Chile, Brazil and Argentina.

We are a Company that delivers over seven million liters of soft drinks, juices and water on a daily basis, thanks to the work performed day after day by more than six thousand workers and to the management and quality systems, trying each day to care for the natural resources that we use in our industrial processes. Our challenge is to grow with respect and responsibility. To grow safeguarding the environment; to grow caring for the labor conditions of our employees; to grow sustainably with our business partners and to grow always maintaining the Andina Spirit inside our Company.
