The Company
Andina and the Community
During its 61 years of life, Embotelladora Andina has been characterized by its commitment
towards the excellence of its products and processes, and also the protection and respect for
people and the environment. During 2007, Embotelladora Andina wanted to go even further and
worked on a global process that included the operations in the three countries for the purpose
of standardizing a Sustainability Strategy, in order to incorporate it to its business strategy and
integrate its performance in the environmental, labor and social scopes. This task involved the
commitment and work of the Company’s different management areas throughout all its value
chain. The historical and permanent economic, social and environmental contribution of
Andina is reinforced by the process developed during 2007, shaping into corporate guidelines
for the organization’s development.
The following are the guidelines in the three high-priority areas that we have identified:
People / Collaborators: The human team that works at and for Andina constitutes its highpriority public. This includes over 5,000 in-house collaborators, in addition to indirect collaborators. Regarding its long lasting commitment towards security, occupational health, wellness and training programs, Andina has defined to emphasize on quality of labor lifestyle, professional development and promote healthy lifestyle habits.
Environment: Andina has developed innovating initiatives to protect the impact of its operations in terms of eco-efficiency, and additionally it has made progress on projects that contribute to protection, promotion and environmental education of the communities in which it operates. We have defined as central issues the defense of water and power resources, waste management and the reduction of pollution.
Communities: Throughout history Andina has been committed with communities located in the vicinity of its facilities. Our role is not only that of a “good neighbor”, but we also contribute to social development, respecting the local cultures. We are part of a larger group that includes local governments, civil organizations, the community itself and other private and public companies. This is why we have implemented different initiatives in the countries where we operate such as sponsoring local employability, promotions, education, sports and recreation, privileging the coordinated efforts with other local organizations. The aforementioned activities are complementary to Andina’s participation in the social investment programs that The Coca-Cola System is developing in Argentina, Brazil and Chile.
